Thesis: Micro-Climates, Nested Bodies and Interstitial Spaces

This thesis explores the development of a formal language that utilizes the environmental systems of the building and juxtaposition of programmatic needs. Focusing on two specific sustainable mechanical systems and their most  basic requirements to provide a driver for the sensational quality of the buildings exterior and interior environments.

The spaces created involve a distinct tension between exterior and interior space, and a juxtaposition of temporal environments. The dynamic between the nested thermal baths and the buildings two other microclimates (casino and hotel) makes interstitial space a necessity. Not only does each element require its own atmosphere of heat and humidity, but each also maintains its own sense of time and level of isolation or interaction with others.
