This 30’ by 120’ site, with pre-existing row houses located on either side, posed the problem of direct sunlight entering the building. This issue became the driving force behind the design. Its program is centered around two courtyards which let in light and provide the residents with a private green space within the city. The placement of the courtyards and its windows allow direct light to enter every part of the house without invading their privacy. The courtyards allow the two units to interconnect, which provides an equal amount of spacious living to each unit.
