Integrated Learning: Palau Freedom Memorial
Students from OTIS and Palau Community College, as well as people from the Palauan community collaborate to create a memorial for the people of Palau to commemorate the Palauan lives lost in wars while fighting alongside the United States military.
Students go through the creative process of researching the local culture, meeting with people of the community to find out what is truly important and what key things to represent in this memorial. The course is a three-year process in which a new group of students come in every year and continue the efforts of the class before - going through artistic revisions and coming together with politicians to create a work of art and a space for Palauans to remember and to enjoy for many generations to come.
