*Planning on relocating to Philadelphia from NYC*
Architecture is not exclusively about a final product, but rather, the process of creation and execution of a product. It is the architects role to serve as a shepherd of that process through collaboration rather than dictation.
Architecture should be about performance, both in process and execution, where collaboration drives innovation, creating solutions that transcend any individual “genius sketch” and allow for architecture to go beyond just the representation of something to the actual performance of it.
Architecture has as much an obligation to give back to its community as the people that use it. By treating architecture as a citizen, and understanding the greater opportunities within a context, the architecture can become more socially and ecologically sustainable.
Architecture exists somewhere between banal, pragmatic realism and progressive, visionary utopia. The surest way to continuous and sustainable innovation is mediation between the “can” and “can’t”.
