Archbishop Blanch School

Archbishop Blanch School is an 11 – 18 Church of England High School in Wavertree and the third in the Liverpool Schools series designed by Sheppard Robson.

It was fundamental to the development of a design for Archbishop Blanch that the conceptual framework (structure, services, efficiency etc.) that had been developed during the detail design of Notre Dame and further developed at Archbishop Beck should be retained while at the same time spaces within this new school had to perform differently in response to the pedagogy and ethos of Archbishop Blanch. In the same manner the red ‘multi’ brick masonry envelope used to clad the school responds to its specific site context whilst remaining within the strict cost parameters of the project.
