Design District to host University of Miami School of Architecture's Final Reviews

Mon, Apr 27 '15  –  Tue, Apr 28 '15
Miami, FL, US

The University of Miami School of Architecture will be going off campus for their end of year presentations.  Upper Level Studios as well as Graduate Thesis Presentations will take place in Miami's Design District at the Garden Building.

“Final reviews are the culmination of the entire semester, a chance for students to really show off their work,” said Dean Rodolphe el-Khoury. “I wanted to move the reviews off campus this semester in order to celebrate that work with the community and open the reviews up to a wider audience. Thanks to the generosity of Craig Robbins and the Miami Design District, we are able to do that in a beautiful space.”

Although the core level student reviews are on campus, the entire School is invited to the awards ceremony and reception that will take place at the Garden Building at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, after all of the final reviews are completed.

“This year’s final reviews will provide an unprecedented opportunity for the entire School to gather as a community to learn from one another’s distinct work,” said Carie Penabad, associate professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the School. “The reviews will culminate with a reception on the Sky Terrace at the Garden Building and an awards ceremony that will celebrate design excellence throughout the curriculum.”

Jurors will select the best project in each studio, and the best projects of the year will be selected from those. One award will be presented to core level, upper level and thesis students.
