AUTODESK: FUTURE OF MAKING BUILDINGS
The era of traditional mass production and industrialization is giving way to uncharted territory where things—be they buildings, products or movies—will be made much differently. Changes in means of production, the nature of consumer demand, and the definition of made things themselves mean that designers of the future have different challenges but tremendous opportunity. This talk will examine how digital technologies will disrupt both the creative process and its results.
Phil Bernstein, Vice President, Strategic Industry Relations
Phil is a Vice President at Autodesk where he is responsible for the company’s future vision and strategy for technology and cultivating the firm's relationships with strategic industry leaders and associations. Formerly a principal with Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, he teaches Professional Practice at Yale where he received both his B.A. and his M.Arch. He is co-editor of Building (In) The Future: Recasting Labor in Architecture and BIM In Academia, a Senior Fellow of the Design Futures Council and former Chair of the AIA National Contract Documents Committee.

IDEAS LECTURE SERIES
The IDEAS Lecture Series charts a dynamic new future for architecture by engaging speakers from a broad range of disciplines. The series looks beyond the field's traditional boundaries and explores topics arising from unexpected quarters—entertainment, automotive, aerospace, and tech industries—in order to explore rapidly emerging new technologies, possibilities for interdisciplinary growth, and the role of Los Angeles in the evolution of architecture. The Architecture and Urban Design IDEAS Lecture Series is generously supported by Paul and Herta Amir.
Lectures are free and open to the public. Seating is available on a first-come first-served basis.
