Why you chose your school/program
While my background and experiences are diverse, they do not include work in the architectural or construction fields. I chose the Boston Architectural College because it offers a First Professional Masters Program for students who wish to do concurrent learning--we are required to work for credit hours while we take night courses.
Architecture interests
Tadao Ando--probably my favorite architect. I chose the field of architecture because of it's appeal to designers and artists seeking real work applications. Coming from a family of medical practitioners, choosing a career deviating from that industry has been difficult. I've always been interested in the arts, but have had difficulties finding a middle ground between the studio arts and, what you might call its real world application. When I came across architecture it completely satisfied both worlds. I'm interested in how our buildings work to not just house and protect us, but in how they can influence us on an individual level and also societal.
Other interests
Photography--I picked up my first SLR camera when I was in high school, built my own darkroom, and there I found my interests in art and composition. I've played the violin since I was probably 5 years old--it's been awhile--although there's not much time for it in design school! Of all my interests travel is by far at the top of the list. I've traveled all my life through the world, but spending my year studying at Oxford was magical--you would understand if you've ever been there--you feel like you're inside a fantasy world. I'm also originally from Michigan and have to say that while the Red Sox, Pats and Celtics have grown on me, I'll always be a Michigan Sports Fan at heart. Go Red Wings! (Not so much for the Lions though...)
