The Architekturmuseum, designed in the Spring of 2008, served as the canvas upon which I explored my thesis topic, ‘creating a contextual architecture.’ The intent of my study on context was to
explore generative and functional formmaking that derived from existing physical site forces. The goal of this was to explore the physical complexities inherent within any given urban site condition regardless of how plain or intrinsically uninteresting a site may seem. At the time, I felt strongly that creating architecture out of the surrounding architecture would serve to root the new architecture within its context and allow for the exploration of what unique characteristics any given site had to offer.
