A “glass sponge” was selected as the  source of biological inspiration and emergent design. Through the rules of shape grammar, analyses were conducted in order to extract a formal diagram.

The diagrams served as catalyst for form generators. By overlapping the diagrams, isolating their independent shapes, and implementing a tectonic joint it resulted in a kinetic apparatus completely separate yet inspired by its original object.
