Architecture, urbanism and environment are my passions, I strive for tactile results and thrive in either a collaborative or solo atmosphere. A nuanced understanding of the urban condition today and historically is vital and always informs my approach to problem solving. Each city is different, but many good cities share the same underlying principles. How can we maintain the character and individuality of cities (and thus structures) while simultaneously bringing them into the 21st century? I believe the answers are rooted in sustainability and community. Within those two realms are a wealth of resources that can help us as designers to create not just best practice, but innovative practice.
From an Urban Omnibus piece about my Fall 2013 studio led by Bjarke Ingels and Daniel Kidd:
"Rose presents us with a bold vision — one that BIG also proposes to some extent in our final project for RBD: to bury the FDR Highway on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. A relic of Robert Moses’ obsession with weaving highways into the tapestry of New York City, the FDR is now nearing the end of its life and will soon need repair or dismantling. This presents an opportunity when paired with the need for resiliency. If you could partially submerge the highway so that it remained above ground at just the appropriate height that it also held back storm water, you could simultaneously provide two infrastructural improvements with the added benefit of insulating the public space from the noise and fumes of the highway. Launching from this premise, Rose continues “Subverting Robert Moses” with the insertion of a Manhattan bike lane atop the new berm, connecting the new greenspace as an amenity for nearby low-income housing." -Daniel Kidd

Parsons The New School for Design, New York, NY, US, MArch, Architecture
As a M.Arch candidate much of my focus has been on sustainable, green and resilient design (to use the current buzz words). I've had the opportunity to design with a team a Passive House row home, for Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia. In addition, many of my studio projects have focused on innovative affordable housing and urban infrastructure.
This past Fall 2013 semester my Design Studio was taught by Bjark Ingles & Daniel Kidd. Using their work on the Rebuild by Design project as a guide, students worked on their own designs for protecting NYC shorelines. Mine can be seen on my website.
I'm currently conducting research for my thesis, which revolves around addressing the issue of waste/trash in NYC, and the creation of a dynamic marine building which will offer a new paradigm about how waste is processed in NYC. I will begin the design phase at the end of January 2014!

Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, US, BArch, Architecture
I completed the first year of the five year pre-professional degree at Pratt. While I was relatively happy with my education at Pratt, I chose to finish my bachelor's degree at The New School, as I was seeking a more well rounded undergraduate study, with the intention of going back to architecture for my master's degree.
