Having worked in fine arts and music previously (and still in my free time..), architecture and urbanism is where I began to focus my attention in 2008. Looking for an area to channel my creative energies and abilities, while at the same time merging with my desire to affect positive change in the world, I realized architecture was the medium that called to me most strongly. I come from a family of builders and craftspeople and intend to carry on their tradition of detail, inventiveness and resilience. I enjoy working with my hands and collaboration/teamwork; I am not afraid to get my hands dirty while finding the best solutions to architectural and urban challenges.
Passive House Institute US (PHIUS), New York, NY, US, Workshop Liaison
While attending the PHIUS workshop in NYC, I also was the liaison, answering questions for out of town students, handling various conference tasks regarding catering, furniture etc... Mostly I was able to gain valuable information and complete the first part of the certification process to become a Certified Passive House Consultant.
AHDLI Symposium Summer 2012 NYC, New York, NY, US, Design Resource Assistant
At the AHDLI symposium I assisted two developers; helping to orient them with the Parsons community and its ideologies, leaving them better prepared for a valuable work session. For the West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing (NYC) I created a site map that identified important neighborhood locations related to their project; primarily a brownfield site which had an environmental and financial impact for their project. For the Low Income Housing Institute (Seattle) I took notes during their symposium session; then compiled the information and drawings from the session into a cohesive document for them to return home with and share with their architect.
Indamine Architecture, Brooklyn, NY, US, Assistant to Leah Kreger, RA.
By assisting Ms. Kreger with a variety of tasks associated with running a small architecture, firm I gained valuable insights into practice. The position was administrative in nature, though it also overlapped into creative realms, ultimately developing into a relationship where frequent brainstorming and strategy sessions about upcoming/current projects and competitions were common. Other duties included helping to navigate and file paperwork for Indamine to become a certified Women Owned Business, taking site-notes, organizing archives and itemizing/calculating invoices and helping with editing of a book about architecture that Ms. Kreger was writing.
Droog, New York, NY, US, Sales & Visual Merchandiser
As visual merchandiser, responsibilities included making weekly adjustments to store displays and art. As a sales person, talking with architects, interior designers, new customers and established clients about Droog, its ethos, history and products was my priority. Parsons The New School for Design, New York, NY, US, MArch, Architecture
As a M.Arch candidate much of my focus has been on sustainable, green and resilient design (to use the current buzz words). I've had the opportunity to design with a team a passive house row home for Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia. In addition many of my studio projects have been focused on innovative affordable housing and urban infrastructure.
I'm currently conducting the research for my thesis, which revolves around addressing the issue of waste/trash in NYC, and the creation of a dynamic building which will offer a new paradigm about how waste is viewed and processed.
The New School for Social Research, New York, NY, US, Bachelors, Urban Studies
