marketmall

This design is a response to a Peri urban Ghanaian community where street vendors and market women have invaded the vehicular road and thus creates a very accident prone situation in the daily life of the people in the community.

This design merges the way of life of the people in the community and is inspired by the movement of the people. There are three distinct areas that play into the design; the stall area under the shed, the open air area in the middle for hawkers and a covered shops area. These areas though segregated are all carefully integrated into the design to ensure a good flow of activities, ushering one into different and diverse , yet one space. The fluid shape of the market facilitates the typical market life as experienced in Ghana.
