Specific-i-t-y

Rising up the existence issue of Footscray is being just at the edge of CBD where it is not close to the city yet not too far from the city. Here are the key ideas through some series of models, analysing what the space could be like if it were to build on site. For example, the first row is telling about sloping ground that connects to the riverside. Second is about reaching out platform to capture different views. Third is by thinking of the below and above ground and how they could be connected by skylights. Just then, I realized that a “sense of place” is of fundamental value to people in every city, every neighbourhood and every culture for all ages. So the result is to get the building shapes human experience by exploring the idea of popping out and being seen. The form itself following the contours in which it is pulled out towards the river. Firstly, the issue is dealing with four edges which frame specific views from each side of the surroundings. View from the main street, from the train rail edge, towards the CBD and through the park. This activates the site in relation to the existing terrain which slopes down to the city. Relates back to the edge, it is at the same height level as the surrounding buildings. Not too high that blocking the view or too low that blocking the pedestrians walking so people view it straight on the eye level and provides a through passage underneath. The plan follows the form of the building where it was developed to increase individual and community awareness, understanding as well as participation in design.
