Relationship of light and space has been a fascination of mine for quite some time. Through my experimental lamp projects, I have continuously explored light as a medium that helps us understand space.
In Roya Lamp (Roya means dream in Farsi) I took two volumes that were completely different in terms of geometry and form – one very simple and the other complex – and embedded one into the other. I then used light to reveal moments in the intersection of the two forms that were completely invisible otherwise. Also choice of materiality was very important in this project. Corrugated cardboard is one of my favorite materials for a number of reasons.
