This split use house in Santa Cruz, was designed for a single couple and their father in-law. This required a division of the use of spaces and circulation paths within the house, creating zones both private and public where the family can have both their privacy as well as socializing spaces.  This allows for healthy coexistence without overly imposing upon each other.
