Leake Avenue

7467 Leake Avenue is an example of one of our pre-fabricated house designs within a larger urban initiative to provide infill for inner city blighted and abandoned lots in New Orleans, Louisiana. Before Hurricane Katrina, we set out to develop an array of homes that fit on the standard New Orleans 30'-0" wide lots. As a result of that effort, we developed over 20 designs. Working with builders and developers, we were able to produce over 100 scattered site units throughout the city. Many of our designs fit within the character and context of historic New Orleans architecture, but  in the case of 7464 Leake, we questioned the historical paradigm, but still utilized the same materials used on adjacent homes.

Currently, New Orleans has 43,755 Blighted homes and abandoned lots. For geographic measure this is approximately 157,518,000 square feet of land out of commerce, or approximately the size of the water surface of the Mississippi River from the Crescent City Connection to Audubon Park.
