Performing_Impositions

The project brief for Performing_Impositions called for the conceptualization of a 80,000 sqft performing arts center on a 10,000 sqft site. Furthermore, necessary spaces included large void spaces, including 2 auditoria and a series of art galleries. These restrictions suggested a a rigorous sectional approach. Instead of merely packing the required spaces into a solid block on the site, the project investigates the benefits of imposing several architectural voids and outdoor rooms which act reciprocally to the interior spaces. These include an elevated, outdoor performance hall sandwiched between the 2 auditoria and a rooftop sculpture garden that captures expansive views of the dramatic landscape surrounding the site.
