Lens of Fiction

A flexible structure, capable of continuously growing and adapting, inhabits the underside of the Burnside Bridge in Portland. The structure cannot exist on its own. It is a stage for human activity, an infrastructure waiting to be explored and put to use. Seen through the lens of three different novels, the project reveals how flexible this site can be, but also uses fantasy to explore the priorities of society, utopian and dystopian visions concerned with cultural criticism, rather than the mere depiction of buildings.
