This mixed use facility was a blend of programmatic forces on site, culminating in a hybrid construct we called Hybrid Torque. The programmatic forces consist of commercial retail, corporate offices, residences and a hotel. These programs are simplified into three categories: Live, Work, and Play. In analyzing this site the adjacent land-use determined the program, we saw a need to blend the various land-uses at this junction to solidify the region as a cohesive neighborhood in which the occupants can live, work, and play, in this increasingly desirable place. In short our proposal should be considered a model for mixed use communities, and for the Chelsea District at large.
