Amplatz Children’s Hospital at University of Minnesota

The University of MN was looking for a design, which would help to inspire patients and soothe families during the most difficult times in their lives.  Providing a mix of calm and stimulating spaces encouraged the pediatric patients, ranging in age from new-born through 21 years old, to leave their rooms and explore.

The fresh water pond, an ecosystem, which fosters life and independence, inspired  the forms, textures, and colors in this hospital. Interactive wall elements and lots of  “landing spots” created at different distances from the patient room serve as positive distractions for patients and families.
