The Golden Gate Nataional Conservancy mediates the edge of where hardscape and softscape meet, shapping the interaction between people who work for the conservancy and visitors who come to the site. By pulling the hardscape of the parking lot and the softscape of the hill towards each other, a gradient of spaces is created to allow for a gradual transition from the parking lot to the hill. Visitors entering the exhibition space will be educated on the process of how the site is maintained. As these layers of information diminish, the visitors will find themselves in completely open space. It is at this moment that they see this environment in a whole new light and understand what the site is truly about.
