The Chicago Lighthouse

Cultural centers are defined by their activity, therefore the definition of a River Cultural Center is a designated space for river Activity.  My Center for River Culture is not Center for River Culture but a Center for River Activity.  The site along the Chicago River is a unique site in that it is tucked away, making it challenging to draw people in. The idea of my Center for River Activity is to draw people’s attention both during the day and during the night. During the day the plaza is the main attractor through activity, and during night the buildings exterior screen is able to light up and draw peoples attention through a lighthouse effect, thus the name of the project, The Chicago Lighthouse.
