RAND is a major “think tank” corporation seeking to relocate its headquarter campus to San Jose. The given site is about 40 acres and needs to provide 1 million square feet of office spaces for RAND as well as an additional chosen program--in this case, hotel and digital education center.
My scheme begins with identifying the green spaces in the surrounding context, which are the existing green strips of trees that the city is proposing to convert into bike trails. Given the geometry of the strips, the design of the new RAND campus creates a rule and pattern of expansion for the potential green fabric of the future San Jose.
