House XXI exemplifies the ways in which the contemporary residence fits into a broader culture enriched with visual information and imagery. In its design, the house calls for domestic space to function and stimulate, while simultaneously making inhabitants aware of the hybridization of photographic images and architecture for the juxtaposition of multiple, contingent realities. Images no longer act as mere representations of space experienced first-hand and the house becomes more than a space for living.
