One of Atria Assisted Living's facilities in California was in need of a redesign and was giving to our class as an assignment that we would break into small groups to work on. The facility consisted of two buildings each of which were two stories and needed to be completely gutted and remodeled. We were asked to redesign the place so that it was able to compete with its very new and beautifully designed competition.
Our group designed this space with the idea of taking the greatness of tradition and merging it with new modern design. Our colors and materials were chosen based off the plant life of the southwestern California area. Each public space was designed according to a specific plant. This gave the facility a great deal of color and harmony between spaces.
