As the East River Park carries a leg of the 32 mile NYC Greenway bicycle loop around Manhattan, a place is created that responds to the culture of cyclists on a city scale, as well as the movement of FDR Drive, the East River, and the park itself. The surface meets the ground at points to promote cycle and pedestrian traffic onto, over, and through the building, making the cyclist's beacon a mandatory intervention.
