The clients came looking for very specific needs with this interesting site. The wife, a music teacher, wanted a room where she could have students come and go to the house for lessons without having to come into the more private threshold of the home. With this, she also wanted for the music room to be able to be expanded during times of recitals. We were able to come up with a scheme that placed the music room in a way that it could over flow into the dining room and living room during recitals. We also gave the client a half bath and coat closet adjacent to the music room for her students. The husband wanted to have an office space concealed away from the rest of the home, which we place in a third floor “tower” that did not obstruct the architecture of the neighborhood. We also wanted to maximize the views of the bayou St. John, along which the site is located.
