Mixed-Use Development (with Duksung Women's University Interior Design Studio)

Our design team consists of 5 people, two team members in our design studio collaborated with three members from our sister university in Seoul, South Korea.  The goal was to collaborate on a design that would best serve the neighborhood and its surroundings.

The Korean city ordinance and zoning regulations mandate that the building not exceed 20 meter in height within the city block.  The city block is composed of buildings of similar volume and scale.

Korean traditional architecture is described by its harmony with nature and the environment.  With today’s advanced technology, our team proposed to mix the concept of nature with modern technology to create a balance where the two comes together to enhance the quality of life.

This commercial property would be the focal point of the neighborhood with green facades and include local vendors for the neighboring office buildings.  At night, it would light the area with a colorful light show and/or play ads for local businesses in the area.  We intended the building to be a landmark that is identifiable in Gangnam-Gu district.
