Saint Louis has experienced a steady population decline over the course
of the last century. The goal of this core studio was to re-incorporate dense
housing to a neighbourhood in which the urban fabric had deteriorated.
21,000 square-feet and 32 units market-rate courtyard apartment complex
in a distressed urban area north of saint Louis central wasted. The project
has an emphasis on energy efficiency, natural day lighting, and blending
the distinction between indoors and outdoors. The apartment complex is
organized base on the out door terraces in order to encourage vertical and
outdoor living. The terrace canopy designed for the light angle, which protect
from harsh light during the summer time. The clerestory windows are all
operable for ventilation and maximum efficiency.
