1. Hope as Architecture
The location of the proposed community center is in Chicago, IL. Located in the west side of Chicago, the desolate abandoned area of Lawndale has expressed a great need for improvement and restoration. The Resource Center will take a focused, collaborative, and long-term approach to deal with the families of Lawndale community and nearby communities.
2. Growth Terrace
Growth Terrace started out as a metaphoric mass of bold innovative ideas and sustainable practice principles. As growth terrace evolved I too the designer have grown as well. Growth Terrace is about the growth and overall ‘transition’ of young adolescents into adults. Not only do the occupants embark upon a transformation, but growth terrace itself also embarks upon the journey through its volumetric expression of space and integration of sustainable building systems such as solar panels, green roofs, and passive heating tubes. The structure incorporates giant vertical water tubes that store sunlight energy in transforms that energy in to heat during the cooler months.
