Downtown Baton Rouge is an area rich with history. Digging into the nightlife citizens of Baton Rouge enjoy, it is easy to find college students mixed with young professionals that have fallen in love with the traditional attitude southern Louisiana adopts on living. However, they are also interested in current society that is taking place elsewhere among the nation and world. Like all professionals, the people in the area are passionate about their careers, but when it comes down to where their joys lie, a loyal crowd will always be found. These people never let the importance of strong relationships with family and friends slide, which preludes the concept of Affaire: a restaurant and lounge that takes customers to a place where they can easily communicate to a large group through its mixture of traditional and contemporary design.
In order to accomplish this, Affaire is based upon French design ideas seen in traditional southern Louisiana homes; however, contemporary design elements create a whimsical, romantic, and innovative space. Lounge group seating, tapas dinner menu, and implementing a brunch menu plays off the social patterns of Louisiana’s citizens. The contemporary elements mixed with traditional French design produce a fantasy-type atmosphere that relates to the customers’ wants, and the overall design of group socialization relates to the customers’ needs.
