8th & Hill May 2011

Spring 2011 I got the opportunity to work with my fellow designer, Yana Gilbuena in Down Town Los Angeles. The project I called 8th & Hill in Down Town LA was a small bachelors pad, yet a very intense and challenging project. Given a limited time frame of 7 days, on a tight challenging budget I got to design a beautiful functional space.

I managed to work with 350 square feet of living space, the strong choice of color, furniture selection and proper accessories made this space appear bigger than it really is. With a space this small, storage and versatility was a must. Therefore a versatile credenza at the end of the bed was custom made by us in order to use it for multiple purposes. Using crown molding along the mayor wall gave it the illusion of a separation and depth to the space. Adding plywood above the closet space made it possible for additional storage as well as dimension to the space. Shelving from floor to ceiling in the kitchen area added character and and served the purpose of use in such limited space. The bathroom was left simple, yet functional adding shelves and using a limited color pallet.

This was one of the most challenging, stressful yet fun projects I've worked on in 2011. I had the best team, Yana a very inspiring designer and the help of my team made this empty canvas come to live. I managed to deliver a very successful design on time and under budget.
