Inova Alexandria Hospital    Alexandria, VA  – Founded in 1872, INOVA Alexandria Hospital has retained RSg to design the largest expansion to their building in over 30 years. The program for the project includes the expansion of the Emergency Department, Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology, and Outpatient Surgery, Laboratory, and a 24 bed Telemetry Unit. Construction cost - $40M, 63,000 sf new construction, 48,000 sf renovation.
The elements of the Emergency Department expansion include new patient and ambulance entrances, 2 resuscitation rooms, a CT Scan room, and an 8 bed Clinical Decision Unit. CVIR expansion includes 6 new treatment rooms with 4 Cath Labs, an EP Lab, and Neuro Interventional Radiology Lab (Bi-plane).
The new expanded entrance to the Same Day Surgery Department includes new patient reception, registration, and family waiting areas. This new area includes high ceilings, indirect lighting, and expansive interiors which feature extensive use of natural materials. The number of patient prep/recovery spaces will be more than doubled for a total of 25 bays. Surgery renovations include a new 21 bay PACU (Recovery Room) and 2 new 600 sf ORs including 1 CVOR.
