A contemporary museum, set into ancient layers of urban earth, underneath asphalt and stemming from a new metro stop. Part mapping study, part design, the museum complex was drawn from a series of cues, or prompts signaled by the remains of a demolished medieval neighborhood. From the true site of Caesar’s assassination, to the ancient home of four temples, the architecture became an opportunity to connect street to ancient street, rebuilding urban form in conversation with the program demands of the 21st century.
