HIGH PERFORMANCE SOCCER TRAINING CENTER - Finalist out of 132 entries

Utilizing the site’s accessibility to El Puerto de Buenos Aires and El Río de La Plata in conjunction with the contemporary practice of repurposing shipping containers for architectural use, the project envisions the BAAR High Performance Soccer Training Center as an affordable plug-and-play system, capable of adapting to the size and needs of its occupants.  The building exists as a shell structure where housing units, classrooms, cafeterias, community spaces, etc. can be inserted in response to the center’s fluctuating population.  Structure and units form a semi-permeable enclosure around two small practice fields, creating a condition open to the surrounding city, while at the same time creating an internal atmosphere conducive to training and studying.  Additional shipping container structures/communities can be erected along the site’s periphery if the program’s population swells beyond 120 occupants.  Similar systems can be implemented at other athletic sites along the Riachuelo River.
