The suburban home is a reckless consumer-- squandering massive amounts of energy and money.  Most of this squandering occurs during the creation of the infrastructure needed to support these satellite settlements.  Each unit is wholly dependent upon its infrastructural umbilical cord, unable to support its own surroundings and itself.  The plan for a new suburbia seeks to re-evaluate the typical model of suburbia.
