This included drawings of the city and a study about the urban context around the Capitoline hill. This also studied the effects of Mussolini on the area around the ancient forum of Rome. This program for the design semester was that of an auditorium, museum and think tank for researchers studying the hill.
View points of important historical monuments are projected onto the site. These monuments are the Campidoglio, Vittorio Emanuele, Trajan’s Market, the Colosseum and the Foro Romano. The program for my semester abroad in Rome was to take the dense area that encompassed the dense area of the Capitoline hill and incorporate a modern museum, music hall and think tank.
This would allow for certain site forces to impact this steep sloped site that many tourists would visit. I created a bridge that would span the different unique programs which then would allow for viewing platforms out into the city. The views that were important at the beginning of the project have become the viewpoints from the structure.
