A long, thin site available in downtown Blacksburg, VA, home Virginia Polytechnic Institute, became the home of a town worship hall and community outreach building in this school project. The unifying element in the design is the prominent structural system of reinforced concrete beams and columns, with the building enclosures flitting in and out of said system. An open grassy space between building enclosures allows for child play among the beams and columns. The worship hall, designed with structural concrete walls, sits slightly off the grid of the community outreach buildings.
