This 22,000 Sq Ft building is designed to provide youth related services to the NYCHA residents. The triangular site was selected due to its central and most accessible and visible location. The design  concept utilizes the site features and location to derive the building form that offers a sculptural presence along Broadway while presenting, the ‘public’ face of public housing through its architecture. The overall organization of spaces is centered on the internal circulation and ‘un-programmed’ spaces that provide an excellent setting for informal interactions. The building mass, split into two program components moves away from the streets on either side and is separated by a trapezoidal sliver, an in-between space.  A diagonal corridor connecting the main entrance on  Broadway to the Gymnasium traverses through this  ‘outdoor room’ that becomes secondary entrance court from the East. The building is wrapped in glass on all sides in sufficient measure to provide transparency and visibility, from within and without. collapse
