In addition to considering solar heat gain, natural ventilation and smart materials, this energy museum extends its use to include a research lab, as a unique way to take advantage of the site and to address the issue of energy.
This added program provides additional legitimacy of constructing a building that would otherwise be stagnant, thereby decreasing the embedded energy consumption. With an access passage under Exhibition Blvd. to the technology department at The University of Southern California, the energy museum does not just house artifacts of technology, it houses the development of technology.
