The German House was said to be a popular spot for Boulder’s own Germanborn residents with it’s tree filled beer gardens it became a relaxing place to enjoy a glass of beer, solcialize, and speak German. Since this site was such an important node, I wanted to keep the same atmosphere and respect the past while creating a new space that acknowleges and embraces the differences. Since the menu of the restaurant evolves seasonally i wanted the building to evolve seasonally as well by having big open windows so that you can see the season changed and have the color of the leaves compliment the dishes and in the warmer months be able to open the windows creating an indoor outdoor space.
