In this project we were asked to design a new office space for the USGBC on the corner of Wooster Street and Grand Street in SoHo. The "client" asked for two meeting rooms, 6 offices, and work stations for 10 people, along with a kitchen/pantry, 2 bathrooms with a shower in 1, a large auditorium, and an art gallery. After all of this was done we were asked to use the remaining FAR for our site and create as many artist lofts as possible.
My team took the approach of keeping the cast iron facade on Grand Street, since it falls in the SoHo cast iron landmark zone. The trick was saving the facade, and having it work with our design without ruining it's integrity. We also applied Green Solutions to the building, such as a grey water system and solar panels.
