Halfway is a project that integrates a halfway house and a library as a means of stimulating the reintegration process of HH inhabitants into society and providing the library with a varied pool of highly motivated employees.
Halfway house inhabitants will be trained in all aspects of library work, providing them with a regular social framework and a professional skill set that will benefit future job applications.
The library will benefit form the heterogeneous backgrounds, ideas, and opinions of the halfway house inhabitants as well as from the potential government funding of its training programs.
Furthermore those two programs will share a public surface, a secure outside public space that touches the street. “Halfway” is a place for learning and entertainment, for bringing individuals or groups together in a social landscape in the centre of a distressed neighbourhood.
