VISUAL APPROACH
Create a sequence of open spaces along the waterfront area, with platforms offering different vantage heights for views
PHYSICAL APPROACH
Various programmatic layers along the boundaries between the landside and waterfront to attract more people, appeal to locals and visitors alike
ACTIVE APPROACH
Creating programmatic spaces that are interactive, engaging, and give a strong connection to the harbor over the course of the day and as the seasons change; enabling the area to have a strong presence and character as an active place in the city
REDEFINING THE WATER EDGE
Hard edge: physical boundary
Soft edge: gradual slope or steps down to the water edge, more of a ‘shoreline’ feel
False edge: the illusion of being over the water, without access like the bridges between the piers
Elevated: raised platform or accessible rooftop space allowing for views from a greater height
Lowered: Floating walkways or platforms that are almost level with the water
Immersion: being within the swimming pools
Views: vantage points
