ARC 302L: Silverlake Apartments

Objective was to illustrate how a community is comprised of individuals. The process is shown through the integration of private courtyards in individual units to certain clusters of units and one central courtyard shared by the entire complex. The individual unit is created from a 10ft x 12ft grid. Each unit is 1080sf and has its private and public program wrapped around a central courtyard. The access points to the different levels are the vertical circulation towers that house both stairways and elevators. A bridge system made of trusses would enable circulation to span the long lengths of the site without having to drop down a multitude of columns to support the pathways. Retail is located along the edges of the site to comply with the necessity of introducing commercial program facing Sunset Blvd.
