This TEX-FAB competition asked for designs to incorporate repetitive elements, optimize for relocation and assembly, and be produced through fabrication technologies available in Houston, Texas.
The COMPONENT is made of one simple C-shaped piece with four slitted connections to allow for stacking and replication. Varied thickness and spacing of the components allows manipulation of light penetration in this sun screen system.
The CONNECTION was inspired by the interlocking of chain links. Building on this concept, the joints were designed to hook into one another to become a self supporting structure.
