2003 - Academic - "head of a satyr" forgery

Michelangelo instructed an apprentice to create an image of the Madonna. Michelangelo disapproved of his apprentice's effort, and transformed the Madonna into a grotesque satyr by attacking it with an ink pen.  The braids of the Madonna's hair are visible in the lower right.  This forgery was an assignment in an elective class on the art, architecture, and life of Michelangelo.  Students were asked to study the original and reproduce it as accurately as possible.
