Philadelphia Skyscraper

This skyscraper was located across from the old Post Office building at 30th Street. The lot was between Chestnut Street and Walnut Street. The building had to accommodate over 1 million square feet of office space as well as a 5 star hotel, retail components, and all supporting spaces. I reduced the size of the elevator core and reduced the number of stops for each car by creating skip stop lobbies, that allowed the elevator to stop at every third floor and then the passengers only had to climb or descend one flight of stairs to reach their ultimate destination. I wanted to include many green terraces that would allow many of the inhabitants to have outdoor private green space in a crowded city. The cantilevered portions of the skyscraper are a double wall design to shield the interior spaces from glare and extreme temperature differences.
