Thesis(in progress) - "ARCHITECTURE OF MENTAL SPACE"

The thesis aims to analyze and understand some elements of our modern society and its “virtuality”, the architecture of our new “faceless” existence inside a vacuum of the web. How the virtual actually develops and exists as a true space and place, a true dimensional form. How does it influence our perception of reality and urbanity...Apart from the theoretical research the thesis contains a series of theoretical “projects”, a series of “exaggerated” realities that visually describe and conceptually support the theoretical part of this thesis. Each of them embodies a di erent concept and analyses di erent possibilities of its utopical / dystopical in uence in any random urban form.

Spider_1: Havana, Cuba

"inverting virtual and real"

The project takes place in a internet and wifi free city. The access to the “web” is very limited and the “virtual space” is not present ...Like the tubes of canalization under the city, above go the pipes, containing wires...The visual effect represents more than ever the idea of one’s “connection“, “attachment“ and “utensils“.

Principle of working:Mega structure of tubes containing wires, that provides Internet signal, crosses the city of Havana.

Spider_2: Moscow, Russia

This vision is the antithesis of the “Spider_1”, its opposite, its contradiction.

A metal mega-structure that blocks any wi-fi and 3G signal ...This version of the “spider” would generate a completely new and different reaction in its “users”. Intend of being an attractor this object would certainly become a “repeller” inside the city...

Principle of working:A system of metallic plates attached to facades, buildings trees...etc, with the purpose of blocking any signals.
