The Virtual Librarian

ARPL 301

Autumn 2014

Critic: Miriam Gusevich

Set in the year 2050 in Philadelphia, PA, the Virtual Librarian is the future of the library.  Rapid advances in the digital world will  allow for the creation of an artificial intelligence, and in this case it will be known as the Virtual Librarian.    People will come to see the Virtual Librarian to learn, and they can be directed to traditional books for further reading.
The building's form comes from a cathedral, and was designed to allow the Virtual Librarian to interact with an audience as a hologram.  The new library will be a living athenaeum, and a cathedral of knowledge.
